I want to focus on a non-profit organization company called POW. POW, or Protect Our Winters, is a company that began, not for any type of money offers, but because they want longer winters. Founder and Pro Snowboarder Jermey Jones started the company in September 2007. He was no mountain environmental hippie, but just a person who has noticed such a change in our surrounding. With every year more and more ski areas are forced to stay closed due to lack of snow and cold winters.

Their mission is to unite the winter sports community to donate for a cause. The website www.protectourwinters.org provides tips and facts of how to reduce your carbon footprint.

“We believe that true change will occur only through a strong grassroots movement so we empower our members to engage local groups and positively impact their communities while also working with corporate partners and resorts to lead the change from a macro level.” (POW mission statement, Planet Green.com, October 1^st 2009).
